Georges Wassouf returns to his classic sound with “Tameni Aal Habayeb”

Georges Wassouf has released “Tameni Aal Habayeb” (طمني عالحبايب), a new Egyptian Arabic song about longing, distance and wanting to know how someone you love is doing.

The song brings Wassouf back together with composer Salah El Sharnoubi, with lyrics by Ahmed Sheta and arrangement by Rami El Sharnoubi. The collaboration gives the track a familiar emotional sound that recalls Wassouf’s earlier work. That connection also runs through classics such as “Kalam El Nas”, featured in our selection of nostalgic Arabic songs from the 1990s.

A nostalgic love story on a train

The music video continues that classic atmosphere. Set largely inside a train, it follows the love story of a young couple as Wassouf takes viewers through their journey. The video uses a cinematic style inspired by an earlier era, rather than AI-generated visuals.

“Tameni Aal Habayeb” arrives as Wassouf continues his summer schedule of concerts across the Arab world and internationally.
