ÁMÀL Ensemble, a newly formed group from the Amsterdam-based Orchestre Partout, is bringing a powerful and borderless sound to this year’s festival The Spirit of Amsterdam. Their theatrical concert A Pilgrimage from Damascus to Guadalajara mixes Arab melodies, Latin-American grooves and improvisational jazz into one captivating experience.

Who is ÁMÀL Ensemble?
ÁMÀL Ensemble is a young, international group of seven musicians with roots in Syria, Siberia, Mexico and France. The word ÁMÀL means “hopes” in Arabic and that energy flows through every melody they play.
Their music blends:
- soulful Arab themes
- warm Latin-American rhythms
- contemporary improvisation and jazz
Expect the bright sound of the buzûk, the dreamy tones of the handpan, deep cello harmonies, expressive vocals and upbeat Mexican grooves. Together, the group creates a musical world with no borders, full of movement, stories and emotional depth.
